MEET YOUR STUDENT CONSULTANTS
KARA ACHILIHU
Welcome, everyone! The College of Business and Economics is glad to have each and every one of you here for the fall of 2014! We certainly hope your summer was everything you wished it to be – barbecues, beach hopping, relaxing, and maybe a summer class or two. Summer here at the College of Business and Economics was buzzing with excitement, all thanks to transfer orientation! Each morning, four Student Consultants along with staff and faculty members, worked to prepare the incoming transfer students in the CBE for classes and introduce to them the many resources offered here. As the first faces transfer students see, Student Consultants aim to make their transition a friendly, easy process.
The College of Business and Economics Student Consultants (SC’s) are students that advise peers, host programs, and represent the college at various events. We work in Student Academic and Career Services, providing a link between students and the administrative offices. We are also responsible for organizing the summer and winter transfer orientations and publishing this very newsletter you’re reading. We coordinate outreach programming, such as the Academy of Finance Student Conference for local high school students and Open Houses for prospective TU students. Students may sometimes find us presenting in their classrooms, such as BUSX 301. We are passionate about helping our fellow students and sharing important knowledge regarding class scheduling, major requirements, graduation checks, and career building. Incoming transfer student, Shannon Sanzi, spoke of the Student Consultants during transfer orientation: “The Student Consultants were incredibly knowledgeable and were thrilled to answer any questions we had. They made the process much smoother and made the frantic experience of scheduling classes and declaring a major incredibly relaxed.” As Student Consultants, we take pride in such comments and hope to positively influence other students here in the CBE!
