Dressing Professionally at a Low Cost
Roberto Munoz
When you hear the words suit or professional dress code, you may also think “that is expensive”. I have found that buying a suit or any other type of dress clothes does not always have to hurt your pocket. Here are some of the things you can do to minimize professional wardrobe costs:
Shop at Discount Stores
Stores such as T.J Max, Ross and Burlington Coat Factory have clothes that may be as good as or better than high-end retailers at discount prices. You may have to take your time, but it will be worth it.
Thrift Stores
Many of my friends have gotten very good things at amazing prices by shopping at thrift stores. Just like at a discount store, it may take some time to find what you are looking for, but it will be worth it. A lot of people leave almost new things at thrift stores, so you will be amazed at what you can find there.
Clearance
Almost every store has a clearance section. Macy’s, Jos A Bank, and Ann Taylor among others have clearance sections where you can find things from the previous seasons or even newer stuff at a discounted price.
Look for Online Discounts
Many people prefer to go to the stores, but online shopping could be a faster and more efficient way to shop. A lot of retailers have exclusive online deals. The only downside to this is that you do not get to try the clothes on before purchasing them. You can go to a store to try on clothes and order online once you know your size.
Sign Up for Subscriptions
Many online retailers have free subscriptions that you can sign up for. They will let you know about any special offers and send you coupons.
You never know when you will need to dress professionally, so I cannot stress enough how important it is to own at least one suit. It doesn’t have to cost you a lot. You just have to be patient and buy smart.
