Transfer Students: TIPS for a Smooooth Transition!
Deborah Odagbado
- Check your degree requirements and transfer credits. This is the number one piece of advice I give to every transfer student. Know exactly how many credits you transferred in and what classes they satisfied. You also need to know how many more classes you need to take before you can graduate. And lastly, familiarize yourself with all of the other degree options. There might be a different major or concentration that you are interested in that better fits the credits you transferred in.
- Plan ahead. After you clearly understand what it takes to graduate with your degree from Towson University, plan ahead! Gather and write down as much information as possible. Staying informed is vital to your academic success. Planning exactly what classes you will take each semester will help ensure that you graduate on time and you don’t take any unnecessary classes. Student Consultants area available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to help you create and review a four-year course sequence. To book an appointment email [email protected] or stop by Stephens Hall, room 301.
- Join an organization. Joining a student organization is a great way to meet new friends. Here in the CBE we have 17 different organizations that cater to all of our majors. I also suggest joining an organization that is outside of the CBE to help build your networking and social skills.
