WRITING THE NEXT CHAPTER: FAREWELL, STUDENT CONSULTANTS
Sandrine Emambu
From early morning rises to late advising sessions with students, our graduating student consultants from the College of Business and Economics have experienced it all. Being a student consultant requires discipline, professionalism, dedication, a sense of humor, and a sense of fashion; A sense of humor to laugh with co-workers, to face the challenges as a project leader while smiling, and a sense of fashion to represent the CBE in stylish suits, skirts, and ties.
From writing project plans and creating project schedules to giving presentations, our graduating seniors are now ready to write the next chapters of their lives. As they move on, we are saddened but very joyous to see what the future holds for them. We are confident that the magnificent work they’ve done for the CBE Student Academic and Career Services will reflect in their professional careers, paving a path of success. As we say farewell to Anousha Nikjouian, Evan Yelenich, Christopher Chapman, Givonne Thomas and Ursule Essangabela, we go down memory lane as they reflect on their time here as Student Consultants: From Evan Yelenich, our co-leader who made the office a pleasant place to work with his jokes, showed us his unique presentation style, and provided us with the Contributor's Corner of our newsletter: “Being a student consultant was a worthwhile experience for me. I was able to meet new people and connect with faculty. It was gratifying to complete my projects and hear about the success of them as well. As a co-leader, it was even more meaningful to watch the projects be done by my co-workers and to see how much effort and passion they put into their projects to make it as successful as it was. I am just as happy if not even happier than they are when their projects are completed. Seeing the hard work they put in to make their projects better than before makes me proud to work with them. I hope to work with people just like the other student consultants at my future job. I would like to thank them and the faculty for being the best ever.” |
From Chris Chapman, our student consultant with a unique, cool-sounding “radio” voice and his sense of humor: “Since I have been interning here as a student consultant, I have enjoyed myself due to the warm welcoming that I was greeted with, kindness, and positive relationships that I have formed. It turned out to be a true learning experience for me to see just how important this internship is not just to the interns, but also to the entire student body. I felt that I was actually a part of a team and that my contributions were being appreciated. Even though my experience is coming to an end, I feel very proud to know that I played a major role in the presentation of the Business Excellence Program expansion. This presentation and action plan will affect future CBE students here at Towson for years to come.”
From Givonne Thomas, the funny, joyous, and ever stylish student consultant: “The journey as a student consultant has been great. I was able to complete projects and gain more knowledge about the activities that occur in the College of Business. I will cherish this experience for the rest of my life. Thank you Mrs. Michocki and the student consultants for the great experience and all of your help!!!”
We can certainly not end our farewell without a note from the returning student consultants and our director: |
From Kara Achilihu, our returning student consultant: "I've enjoyed working with all of you so much! Each and every one of you has a unique quality that I could relate to. I know you will do great things in life, and I will miss you all."
From Alex Mathiowdis: “ To all the graduating student consultants, it has been a pleasure working with you all. I know all of you will become great business professionals in the future. Don't be afraid to challenge the status quo and tackle every challenge you face with dignity. "Set out every day believing in your hopes and dreams. Know without any hesitation that you were made for bigger and better things.” From Mrs. Lisa Michocki, our director: “Thank you to all of the graduating student consultants who have been working in the Department of Student Academic and Career Services for all of your dedication and hard work. It has been a delight to work with you and to learn from you each and every day. Your enthusiasm toward helping shape the student experience in the College of Business and Economics has been a pleasure to be around and I know you will go on to accomplish amazing things in your future careers. Best of luck and warm wishes!” From all of us (faculty, staff, & other student consultants), know that we will miss you all but we are excited for what life holds for you all. Remember that you are a Tiger forever!
