LinkedIn REcommendations

As
you enter the workforce, LinkedIn becomes an even greater resource for job
hunting and professional development. Here are some little known tips that can
add a great deal to your LinkedIn experience.
Personalize your LinkedIn profile URL
You can personalize your LinkedIn URL to make it look professional and easier to access. Having your full name in your LinkedIn URL will also increase the chances of having your profile appear first in different search engines. To customize your profile’s URL, simply head to the Edit Profile link, which is located under the Profile tab on the top. Once in the Edit Profile page, find the current public profile URL and change it to display your name.
Your profile’s URL will be in this format: https://www.linkedin.com/in/YourName.
Add Document, Presentations or even Videos
To make your profile stand out, you can add documents, presentations or even videos. You can backup key skills or experience with some proof of your work. You can also add media to validate your educational and professional experience.

Update your status every other week
People are used to updating their Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr profiles constantly but neglect doing so in LinkedIn. The people in your network can see when you update your status and doing so can motivate them into viewing your profile. Be careful not to over do it since you don’t want to seem unprofessional.
You can Turn off the “Activity Broadcast”
Sharing the profile updates with your network can have some advantages, but in some cases people would rather keep some changes private. The way to keep changes in your profile from being shared with the public is by turning off the “Activity Broadcast” setting. Simply open the Privacy and Setting Page and look for the “Turn on/off your Activity Broadcast” link, located under Privacy controls. Remember to turn it back on when you want to start sharing your profile updates again.
Add keywords to your headline and summary
It is crucial to include keywords throughout your LinkedIn profile. If you want to be identified with a specific job position, skill or industry, include keywords that relate to this subject. This is a great way to increase the probability of a potential employer finding your profile.
